Curtis Vodka debut In Philly

DJ Deluxxx warmed up the spot with a wide range of music to get the crowd going. Although Curtis did not have his usual set up of CDJs, he was able to put in an excellent set using Deluxxx’s Appletop and Serato ranging from old school Snoop to his usual mix of Baltimore club, including Shoulder Lean, and juke. The dance floor was crazy as the girls juked it about. Shout out to Purple Crush for her popping. Shout out to the over 40 group of about 10 people who were celebrating the birthday of one of their coworkers. Check out Curtis October 6th at Pop Montreal then on tour with Purple Crush in October and November. Check out the rest of the photos here.

Curtis Vodka makes his NYC debut at Thor inside the Hotel On Rivington tonite with Catchdubs. Thor seems to be the hot spot for Wednesdays. From their MySpace:
SLEEPER is a downtown throw-down music weekly held at THOR, the lounge inside The Hotel On Rivington located in Manhattan’s bubbling Lower East Side. Wednesday nights at THOR pave way to a changing line-up of reputable DJs and producers from NYC and beyond with a boundless music selection deviating from the average. We can take it to the grown and sexy, the WTF? (but I think I like it), the mad ignorant and then some. Attracting a festive audience, diverse and eclectic as the tunes, SLEEPER offers a unique evening for those of open minds and ears.
SLEEPER
Every Wednesday, 8PM - 4AM
at THOR, inside The Hotel On Rivington
107 Rivington Street, between Essex & Ludlow

Yo, this is Casi G, and I am so happy right now. I straight took the pin out of my chair at my office so I can officially lean all the way back. Oh snap I almost fell out of my chair I am so happy (plus I am listening to this new Cira, Jazzypha sampling Kraftwerk forever). You know why I am so happy, Curtis Vodka’s Yeti Bounce is the number one seller at TTL. You know what else? We have just finalized a lot of the tracks on Flamin Hotz 003. Oh Snap Turn Table Lab is lovin some Flamin Hotz right about now.

(#7 on the hottest sellers chart)
The only thing I know about Curtis Vodka is that he posts on the hollerboard and they reviewed his mix cd in the Fader (which we never got, Curtis if you read this, we’re interested), but this guy has put out a ridiculous record of b-more influenced edits (right here) so I had to do a little investigation. And the kid is from freaking Anchorage Alaska! That wouldn’t really mean much if the tracks here weren’t so badass. If you like those kind of emo Baltimore cuts like “Girlfriend / Boyfriend,” you just found your new favorite shit right here. Curtis does these things so properly with mellow keyboards laid on top of the standard drum breaks, the exact right amount of vocals and all the little things that put them above a simple mash up. Enough of pandering though, check the sound on his mix of Cassie’s “Me and You(1).” Shit bumps. And the hip hop remixes are so on point, check “Shoulder Bounce(2)” and “Mary Jane(3);” just drawing on that southern smoke with codeine keys and choppy “Sing Sing” beats to keep your brain moving. Shits like a fucking speedball son! I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t kept up with my Omarions and Chris Browns so I’m not sure who the singer is on “Hey Girl(4),” but that might be the most addictive joint on here. Bonus track is a remix of the OG “Diamonds Are Forever(5).” So soulstrut has their outlet in the Melting Pot label, and now the hollerboard has theirs with Flamin Hotz, is that it? Bring in on, message board peoples got talent.
Also look out Pop Monteral I think CV is going to be making a guest DJ spot. more details as they come together.

Our man Curtis Vodka recently got back from a tour through Sweden and Denmark. During the tour he played at a number of clubs (you can listen here), had in store appearances and was interviewed on TV about MySpace. You can check out some pictures from one of the parties here. As soon as we can find the video clip we’ll be sure to let you know.
Curtis Vodka’s record Yeti Bounce is currently available in Philly at Armands and Sound of Market. Turntable Lab has picked it up and will be in stock soon and in Chicago you can get it at Gramaphone Records. We’re making some major moves so you expect it to be in your favorite local store soon.

Oh snap, Curtis Vodka’s break out EP was already suppose to be in your hands. Don’t blame us, we are just as surprised. We got the test presses in the mail and whoops they forgot a song. Those freakin manics! So we had to wait another two weeks for the next presses and they are killer so last Friday we told them to start pressing so that means we should pick it up some time this week. Seriously, so hold tight its coming because as soon as we get the call we’ll be driving to the plant to pick them up.
In other news we are currently researching our next release and looking for tracks. So if you got some or know some one then hit us up. Also look for a possible Flamin Hotz DVD megamix with our good friend System D128. He has been working hard over at White Label TV but I think he is ready for his own solo project.
So there will be a lot of other changes soon with the site and some more links and stuff to make it look snappy. So if you want to help out with that it would be great. Otherwise keep spinning our tracks. We love that.
